My name is Manu and this site is my buttprint on the internet. I’m from Spain, I play in bands and I like a bunch of stuff. I also write this microblog, journal or whatever below.
I have a lot of text files with ideas and lists in my computer. I’m going to take most of them and put them here somehow. There will be an overload of lists and links. Hopefully I will also convert some of the ideas into essays. Does announcing your plans make accomplishing them more likely? I’ve read opinions that support both answers (yes and no). So let’s see!
Now that I have added a lot of new stuff below this microblog section is kind of diluted. But don’t worry, be prepared for this section to grow so much that your scrollbar will become a tiny dot! The days where I questioned journaling (yesterday) are over.
I’ve modified a couple of sentences in my previous entries that didn’t sound quite right. Is that cheating? Is overthinking cheating? Also, I wrote this paragraph yesterday, even though the header says it’s from today. I did it because I thought maybe I wouldn’t feel like writing so I wrote something just in case. Days since last rule breaking: 0.
Second day and I’m already questioning why I’m doing this. The problem is that the excitement disappears once I realise I don’t have much to say. Probably what I want is just to look back after a few weeks and see that I have committed to do something and as a result have a few hundred written words.
First entry! I wanted to create a simple, clunky and tiny space outside the usual social networks. My idea for this site is to be a place to put a couple of thoughts every day, kind of like a journal.
I have solo project called Bears Eat Beets (instrumental alternative post-rock whatever) and I play drums in two bands: Celacanto (sludge-stoner metal) and De Usted (stripped-down instrumental sludge). I also had another solo project called Martillo Neumático (stripped-down sludge-punk). (It’s all about sludge, as you can see). I also played drums in Cronófago and guitar in Los Cuatrocientos Golpes.

The best band I’ve discovered in 2021 is Surprise Chef. They play instrumental cinematic soul, a genre I didn’t even know existed. Other great bands that play that kind of music are Karate Boogaloo and Let Your Hair Down, from the same label (College of Knowledge) and city (Melbourne).
I’ve also been listening a lot to Tortoise, which I discovered last year. They are pioneers of the post-rock genre, but they don’t sound anything like most current post-rock bands. Their music is timeless and much better :) Other bands I’ve been listening to lately are Shellac, Django Django and Thrice.
